Ivailo Enchev is winner in Buharest

Twelve young players took part in the first International chess tournament in Buharest,Romania. They were between 10 and 20 years old- from Romania,Bulgaria,Montenegro,Moldova and Hungary. The winner with 10 points is Ivailo Enchev (BUL).He was lucky, because Tiberiu Georgescu (ROU)lost last round against Potpara. Georgescu finished with 9,5 points and took the second place. The next place is for Alexandr Ogleznev (MDA) with 9 points.Another Bulgarian player Dimitar Hristov is last ,but he beat the Montenegro's champion under 16 Nikola Potpara. He played very well and we expect better results from him in the future.Unfortunately, one of the players,Adam Feher (HUN) got sick and could not finish the tournament. The organization was exellent.Young chess players had the opportunity to play in a beautiful hall of the Romanian Parliament.Playing conditions were exceptionally high level.Congratulations ! http://www.clubulregilor.ro/

European Team Championship in Novi Sad

Bulgarian national chess teams have undergone a complete collapse at the European Team Championship in Novi Sad, Serbia.Led by Veselin Topalov and Antoaneta Stefanova the teams were placed respectively in №4 and №8, but stayed back in the standings.Unfortunately, most players were not in their best form. The former world champion Topalov played only 4 games and left the championship because of urgent personal engagements! His handler Ivan Cheparinov did not play sound.Alexander Delchev lost one important game against Italy because of...mobile ringing.Good play showed the youngest grandmaster in the team-Valentin Yotov, but his forces apparently weakened in the last decisive rounds.Dejan Bozhkov started with two losses against lower graded players and was included in the team only after the departure of Topalov.
The situation with our women's team was similar. With the exception of Antoaneta Stefanova, who played as expected, all the others got poor results. It can hardly be an excuse that the team is quite rejuvenated.Adriana Nikolova,Iva Videnova and Elitsa Raeva showed upward development in the recent years. Why right now the three played poorly? The most experienced player in the team Margarita Voiska also was not in shape as well.Incredibly unfortunate coincidence!
We expect the last word of the national coaches for the poor performance of Bulgaria.
